Prince George RCMP Victim Services' Crisis Response and Therapy Dog 'Max' is working his last shift on Tuesday, August 14th.
To honour Max and his service, the Prince George Detachment is inviting the public to say a fond farewell to this beloved yellow lab on his last day. There will be an award ceremony at 1:30 PM followed by refreshments and fun for everyone until 3:00 PM tomorrow.
Max has enjoyed a vast and impactful career within the RCMP's Victim Services Unit. For over five years (35 dog years), Max has assisted those young and old in our City and other communities in BC. His kind demeanor and calming presence has helped clients by providing support during a crisis, or as they speak to police or testify in court. Here are a few of the many firsts and awards Max has had during his service:
In his retirement, Max plans to do some relaxing and swimming at various lakes, guard his front porch, and enjoy getting treats without having to work for them. A picture book named, "Max becomes a therapy dog" is being developed and will launch in October to commemorate Max's service as a therapy dog.
